Abstract
Searching for buyers, advertising, marketing, negotiating, and preparing proposals are important activities from the standpoint of the parts manufacturing business. Yet small and medium parts manufacturing businesses are generally suffering from a lack of marketing and sales man power. To solve this problem, this paper deals with developing intelligent agents which support the series of actions for sales of small and medium sized parts manufacturing businesses using the Internet based electronic commerce as the marketplace.
In this paper, an intelligent agent, a virtual manufacturing-based sales agents(VMSA) which has a multi-agent architecture, is proposed to support the generation of commerce materials from the manufacturers¡¯ standpoint linked with the virtual manufacturing system. Most research on electronic commerce has concerned final products rather than part products. And conventional agent applications related to electronic commerce are usually for buyers or end customer support. However, VMSA is a sales agent to support seller¡¯s activities for part manufacturers and has the integrated architecture of electronic commerce, agent, and virtual manufacturing to extend the reach of electronic commerce in the Internet environment.
