Abstract
The on-going development of computer-based teaching and learning, as well as the continuously increasing capacity and versatility of the communication networks, lead to new possibilities of media-based knowledge transfer. These changes will bring about the establishment of an electronic market for education and training. This article introduces the concept of an Electronic Education Mall (EEM), which supports communication and interaction processes between buyers and sellers in this market. The EEM can be regarded as a virtual centre for rendered services, which facilitates market transactions by providing a multitude of service functions. "Products" that can be mediated by an EEM are shown, using university-based telelearning approaches as an example.
